WESTFIELD – State police have issued an endangered child advisory regarding a 28-year-old city woman who has allegedly taken her 3-month-old daughter for whom she does not have legal custody.
Cheryl E. Kozaczek, of 80 Woodmont St., left her home at approximately 1 a.m. Wednesday with her 3-month-old daughter, Gaebria Kozaczek in a
, according to a release issued by state police.
Kozaczek does not have legal custody of the child. The child’s legal guardian is Cheryl Kozaczek’s mother, of the same address.
Kozaczek is white, approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall with long brown hair with blonde highlights, often in a ponytail.
When last seen she was wearing a lightweight tan sportcoat, black jeans, and black Army boots with yellow stitches. She may be carrying a large black diaper bag.
The baby weighs approximately 12 pounds and has a full head of brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing pink and black striped tights with either what is a described as a fluffy top or a pink night shirt.
The truck bears a Westfield State University parking decal.
Kozaczek’s whereabouts are unknown. She has previously spent time in California. She will sleep in her vehicle or in hotels. Preliminary information indicates that there may be reason to fear for the child’s safety and well-being, state police said.
Westfield police have asked state police to issue an Amber Alert. State police say they are still assessing that request to determine if it meets the criteria for an Amber Alert.
The information has been sent to police departments nationwide, according to state police.
