A number of communities are announcing parking bans because of Sunday and Monday’s snowstorm.
The storm is considered a “classic nor’easter” and blizzard conditions with high winds are expected in eastern Hampshire and Hampden counties, according to Dan Brown, abc40 meteorologist.
Snow is expected to continue Sunday, with it getting heavier starting at about 10 p.m. Brown predicted the morning commute will be extremely difficult.
Brown said he is expecting a range of 12 to 18 inches in different parts of Western Massachusetts with most communities receiving 14 to 16 inches.
Some of the parking bans are:
In Springfield there will be no parking on the even side of any street from 7 p.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Monday.
In Agawam there is no parking on any street until further notice.
In Chicopee there is no parking on main streets and no parking on the odd side of secondary streets until 9 a.m., Monday.
In Greenfield there is no parking on any street until 6 a.m., Tuesday.
In Holyoke there is no parking on even number side of all city streets until 7 a.m., Tuesday. Residents can call the parking ban hotline number at 322-5500 for more information.
In Northampton there is no on-street parking until further notice. Parking is allowed in the garage if there is space.
In Palmer there is no on-street parking overnight with the exception of the following streets: French Street on the northwest side; Maple Terrace, east side; Main Street, northwest side; Maple Street, north side and High Street, east side.
In West Springfield there is no parking on all streets until further notice.
In Westfield there is no parking on all city streets until further notice.
