Only "emergency essential" employees are to report to work on Monday.
WESTFIELD – Approaching Hurricane Irene has prompted officials at Westfield State University to close the campus through Tuesday morning, effective at 4 p.m. on Friday.
The condition was set by the college's Emergency Management Team.
Student athletes, leaders and others currently living on campus must make arrangements to leave campus by 4 p.m. Friday. Only employees previously designated by their departments as "emergency essential" are to report to work on Monday.
The campus will re-open for regular work hours on Tuesday. Faculty, staff and students should check the university website for updates and instructions prior to returning to campus on Tuesday in the event severe weather-related damage requires further action.
