Cpl. Christopher Arzola of Westfield, Sgt. Jeremiah Callahan of Chadron, Neb., and Cpl. Jason Chleborad of Rapid City, S.D., were killed in the accident on Tuesday in Dana Point, Calif.
CAMP PENDLETON — Cpl. Christopher Arzola of Westfield, Mass., was among three Marines killed in a car crash near Camp Pendleton, Calif., this week.
The Marine Corps has released the identities of the three Marines on Thursday.
Camp Pendleton officials said in a statement that the three killed in Dana Point, Calif., on Tuesday were 23-year-old Sgt. Jeremiah Callahan of Chadron, Neb.; 21-year-old Cpl. Christopher Arzola of Westfield, Mass.; and 22-year-old Cpl. Jason Chleborad of Rapid City, S.D.
Arzola was a 2008 graduate of Westfield High School.
A fourth Marine remains hospitalized. His name was not released. Sheriff's investigators say speed, slick roads and alcohol appeared to contribute to the 2005 Dodge Stratus going out of control on a Dana Point street early Tuesday and slamming into a tree.
Officials are still investigating the cause of the crash.
