The Acura Integra's window was smashed to gain entry, police said.
WESTFIELD – Police are probing the theft Tuesday morning of a reported $11,000 worth of stereo and other equipment from a car parked in a Southwick Road apartment complex parking lot.
Capt. Hipolito Nunez said the theft in the lot at 200 Southwick Road was discovered about 9:15 a.m. Tuesday and is believed to have occurred some time after midnight.
The Acura Integra’s window was smashed to gain entry and items stolen included a Pioneer CD player, computer module, a turbo boost and turbo timer and set of Pro Comp gauges, Nunez said.
Police do not know if the Southwick Road theft is related to about a half-dozen vehicle break-ins reported in recent days in the downtown area. In some of those cases, the vehicles were unlocked, in others, windows were broken to gain entry, Nunez said.
