SPRINGFIELD - The Hampden District Attorney's office is online.

District Attorney Mark Mastroianni announced Monday that the office has launched a new website -- its first ever. Prior to the site's launch, the Springfield-based office was the last District Attorney's office in the state without its own web presence.

The site, designed by Springfield-based DIF Design, can be viewed at www.hampdenda.com.

In a press release, Mastroianni called the site "a useful tool in keeping the public informed as to the work of the office."

The site provides a comprehensive look at the structure of the office and the court system, from explanations of the difference between District and Superior Court to a complete listing, with maps, of Hampden County court locations. Each of the office's specialized units, such as the Elders / Persons with Disabilities Unit and Special Victims Unit, has a dedicated page with detailed information about the unit's work.

A section labeled "NEWS" provides links to recent press releases about investigations and office activities and programs, as well as links to media coverage of the office.

Another section lists 21 unsolved Hampden County homicides dating to 1991, with information about the "Text-a-Tip" program, contact information for the State Police Detective unit, and a link for emailing tips directly to the District Attorney's office. A brief description of each case is accompanied by contact information for the investigating agency.

"Whether it's providing information to help victims and witnesses with information to guide them through the court process, or identifying our specialized units of prosecution to assist the citizens in our county, I want the residents of Hampden County to know how the District Attorney's Office works to keep their communities safe," Mastroianni wrote in the press release.
