Firefighters are checking homes in the area of Sikes Avenue in West Springfield
WEST SPRINGFIELD – Firefighters from both West Springfield and Westfield are fighting a brush fire off West Springfield’s Sikes Avenue near the border with Westfield.
West Springfield firefighters were also checking the back yards of neighboring homes in an effort to make sure that the brush fire doesn’t spread to an occupied dwelling.
The region has been suffering with below-average rainfall for months.
