WESTFIELD - Westfield turned out in force Tuesday to welcome Wreaths Across America and honor the nation’s fallen heroes.

More than 200 veterans, schoolchildren and residents attended a memorial service at Stanley Park while even more lined city streets, from the Massachusetts Turnpike to the park, to salute the caravan which is en route to Arlington Cemetery in Virginia.

Karen Worcester, the executive director of Wreaths Across America, said her “ heart was full seeing all the children and others who turned out. America will always be strong because of communities like Westfield."

Wreaths Across American is a project started by the Worcester family of Maine to place wreaths on grave markers at veterans cemetery.
